Rafael Struick’s long journey until he was chosen as a future star for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
The 2024 U-23 Asian Cup has finished and the Indonesian U-23 National Team must be satisfied with winning the fourth place title. Even though they didn’t become champions, there was one quite proud achievement obtained by the Garuda Muda Team players.
He is striker Rafael Struick. The 21 year old player was selected to win the title of Future Star of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. This news was announced by the AFC after announcing the nominees for Future Star of the AFC U23.
“Presenting @rafaelstruick: Our fans choose NEOM Future Star of the AFC U23,” wrote the official AFC Instagram account.
Rafael Struick won this title after defeating five names who were also nominees. They are Mao Hosoya (Japan U-23), Khusain Norchaev (Uzbekistan U-23), Ali Jasim (Iraq U-23), Abdullah Radif (Saudi Arabia U-23), and Ahmed Al Rawi (Qatar U-23).
It raised questions seeing Rafael Struick get this title. Because, the U-23 Indonesian National Team actually failed to make it to the final, let alone champion. Of course Japanese or Uzbek players steal more attention because they are able to compete in the top match.
Apparently, AFC awarded this title through voting carried out on its social media. As a result, Struick managed to get 57 percent, beating Ali Jasim who was at 43 percent.
Almost one hundred percent of voters only chose Struick or Jasim. Other names received almost no votes or did not receive significant votes, so their vote rate was zero percent.
Rafael Struick was the main striker for the U-23 Indonesian National Team during the U-23 Asian Cup. He stands out with his ability to move quickly and connect with the midfielders behind him.
The number 11 player in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup contributed to the 4-1 win over Jordan. In the quarter-finals, he scored two goals which contributed to the victory over South Korea.
So, one of his two goals was a nominee for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Best Goal. In this nomination, Struick competed with other players.
Compete with Other Players
They include Ahmed Al Rawi (Qatar U-23), Witan Sulaeman (Indonesia U-23), Aiman Yahya (Saudi Arabia U-23), Khuat Van Khang (Vietnam U-23), Hassan Khalid (Iraq U-23 ). ), Alibek Davronov (Uzbekistan U-23) and Mao Hosoya (Japan U-23).
Struick’s goal was a shot from more than 20 meters after using the ball to hit a South Korean player. His hard kick went to the far post and failed to be blocked by the opposing goalkeeper.
The Indonesian U-23 national team is a dark horse team because of its status as debutants in the tournament. However, they were surprisingly able to overthrow experienced teams.
Progressed to the semifinals
In Group A, the U-23 Indonesian National Team lost 0-2 to hosts Qatar (15/4/2024). However, Shin Tae-yong brought his team back with a 1-0 win over Australia (18/4/2024) and crushed Jordan with a score of 4-1 (21/4/2024).
The runner-up status in Group A then meant that the U-23 Indonesian National Team advanced to the quarter-finals and faced South Korea U-23 (25/4/2024). The surprising result was that the Garuda Muda Team was able to win 11-10 on penalties.
Next, in the semifinals Rizky Ridho et al. facing Uzbekistan which ended in defeat 0-2 (29/4/2024). The duel continued in the battle for third place which lost 1-2 to Iraq (2/5/2024).
His long journey started from officially becoming an Indonesian citizen, Rafael Struick: This is a special day for me!
Rafael Struick and Ivar Jenner are the names of the newest players to become Indonesian citizens. Both of them took the oath at the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Jakarta, Monday (22/5/2023) morning.
Wearing black suits and black caps, Rafael Struick and Ivar Jenner looked dashing during the oath-taking process to become Indonesian citizens.
Rafael Struick also expressed his feelings. He admitted that he was very happy. In fact, he called Monday (22/5/2023) a special day for him.
“I just want to say thank you to all those present here. This is a special day for me,” he said as quoted from the official PSSI website.
Rafael Struick can’t wait to defend the Indonesian National Team in official events. So far, the Ado Den Hag player has only played for the U-20 Indonesian National Team in several trial matches.
“Just like Ivar, I can’t wait to do a training camp with the Indonesian national team,” explained Rafael Struick.
The general chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, was also happy with the completion of the naturalization process for Rafael Struick and Ivar Jenner. Erick hopes that both of them can make a real contribution to Indonesian football.
Apart from that, the arrival of hereditary players, according to Erick, should also be a motivation for other players. They must be able to compete with players of this descent.
“Other players will certainly be increasingly motivated to compete in a healthy manner, improve their abilities so that they are selected to be part of the Garuda squad,” said Erick.
Rafael Struick and Ivar Jenner are both under 20 years old. For now, it is quite difficult for them to immediately break into the senior Indonesian national team squad.
It would be good if Rafael Sturick and Ivar Jenner were used in the Indonesian U-23 national team first. Moreover, there will be two big agendas that Garuda Muda will face in the near future.
The two agendas in question are the 2023 Asian Games and the 2024 AFF U-23 Cup Qualification. The final round of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup is also used as a qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Two young players born in the Netherlands, Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick, have legally become Indonesian citizens (WNI). The naturalization of both makes competition in the Indonesian National Team even tighter.
Ivar Jenner is still 19 years old and plays as a midfielder. Referring to Transfermarkt, the players from Jember, East Java, act as players number six and eight.
Meanwhile, Rafael Struick is 20 years old. Referring to Transfermarkt, the ADO Den Haag player in the second caste of the Dutch League is used to playing as a left winger, but can also act as a center and right attacker.
Both of them are still old enough to defend the Indonesian U-22/U-23 National Team which is faced with a busy schedule this year starting from the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification, 2022 Asian Games, to the 2023 AFF U-22 Cup.
Apart from that, if deemed appropriate, both can also be used by the Indonesian National Team for FIFA Matchdays in June and September 2023 until the 2026 World Cup Qualifications for the Asian Zone in October this year.
Ivar Jenner will compete with Marc Klok, Syahrian Abimanyu, Ricky Kambuaya, and Rachmat Irianto in the Indonesian National Team. In the U-22/U-23 national team, the Jong Utrecht players in the second division of the Dutch competition will compete for places with Ananda Raehan, Taufany Muslihuddin, Beckham Putra, and Alfeandra Dewangga.
Meanwhile, Rafael Struick will try to penetrate the Indonesian National Team’s front line which is dominated by Ramadhan Sananta, Dimas Drajad, Dendy Sulistyawan, Stefano Lilipaly, Saddil Ramdani, Witan Sulaeman, and Egy Maulana Vikri.
In the U-22/U-23 national team, Rafael Struick will compete with Sananta, Witan, Fajar Fathur Rahman, Irfanjauhari, Titan Agung, and Jeam Kelly Sroyer.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick have just taken the oath and pledge of allegiance to citizenship at the DKI Jakarta Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) on Monday (22/5/2023).
“Thank God, Jenner and Struick have carried out the citizenship oath-taking procession at the DKI Jakarta Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office today,” said PSSI Chairman, Erick Thohir, quoted from the PSSI website.
“Other players will certainly be more motivated to compete in a healthy manner, improve their abilities so that they are selected to be part of the Garuda Squad,” said Erick Thohir.
Currently, PSSI is processing the transfer of Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick from the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) to PSSI in FIFA. After that, both of them were able to play for the Indonesian national team and the U-22/U-23 national team.
The Indonesian National Team’s closest agenda is trials with the Palestinian National Team on June 14 2023 and the Argentine National Team five days later.
Meanwhile, the U-22/U-23 national team will reportedly train against the South Korean League giant, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, on June 17 2023.
Two recently naturalized players, Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick, were called by the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, for FIFA Matchday June 2023.
Both of them have the opportunity to defend the Indonesian National Team when they have trials with the Palestinian National Team and the Argentinian National Team.
The Indonesian national team will first face Palestine at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, on June 14 2023, and then host Argentina at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, five days later.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick were introduced by PSSI as two new naturalized players for the Indonesian National Team at SUGBK on Wednesday (24/5/2023).
Both of them officially held the status as Indonesian Citizens (WNI) on May 22 2023. Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick just need to move their association from the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) to PSSI in FIFA in order to defend the Indonesian National Team.
Initially, Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick were projected by Shin Tae-yong to make the U-20 national team at the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
However, the U-20 national team canceled hosting the tournament and was replaced by Argentina. However, the naturalization of Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick is still being processed by PSSI. Both are prioritized for the Indonesian National Team and U-22.
“I’m quite disappointed that the 2023 U-20 World Cup has been canceled in Indonesia. However, I received a call from Shin Tae-yong for the Indonesian national team. My focus is on the senior national team and I want to play as soon as possible on FIFA Matchday,” said Ivar Jenner.
Ivar Jenner is still 19 years old and plays as a midfielder. Referring to Transfermarkt, the players from Jember, East Java, act as players number six and eight.
Defending Jong Utrecht in the 2022/2023 season, Ivar Jenner played 13 times in the Eerste divisie or second tier of the Dutch League with zero goals, zero assists, but received four yellow cards.
Meanwhile, Rafael Struick is 20 years old. Referring to Transfermarkt, the ADO Den Haag player in the second caste of the Dutch League is used to playing as a left winger, but can also act as a center and right attacker.
“It’s a shame that the U-20 World Cup was cancelled. However, we have to move on. Now there is the Indonesian National Team and U-22. There is a lot to do and we have to focus,” said Rafael Struick.
Currently, Rafael Struick is strengthening ADO Den Haag in the same division. However, the striker from Semarang, Central Java, only played twice for 11 minutes last season.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick still need one more step to defend the Indonesian national team. However, both of them are desperate to defend the Garuda Team against the Argentine National Team.
After officially becoming Indonesian citizens (WNI) on May 22 2023, Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick still need to arrange the transfer of their association from the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) to PSSI in FIFA.
If they get approval from FIFA, Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick will be able to play for the Indonesian national team.
Both of them have also received a call from the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, for FIFA Matchday June 2023.
PSSI must move quickly to complete the transfer of Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick’s status, because the nearest FIFA Matchday is less than three weeks away.
The Indonesian national team will first face the Palestinian national team at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, on June 14 2023, then host Argentina at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, five days later.
“Argentina are world champions. I really want to play in the stadium against Argentina. That is a dream for me,” said Ivar Jenner.
“Same. Argentina is the best at the moment. We have to respect it. So, we will do whatever we can,” said Rafael Struick.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick were introduced by PSSI as two new naturalized players for the Indonesian National Team at SUGBK on Wednesday (24/5/2023).
Ivar Jenner is still 19 years old and plays as a midfielder. Referring to Transfermarkt, the players from Jember, East Java, act as players number six and eight.

Rafael strengthens ADO Den Haag in the same division. However, the striker from Semarang, Central Java, only played twice for 11 minutes last season.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick enthusiastically welcomed the FIFA Matchday duel between the Indonesian National Team and the Argentine National Team. Both of them hope to be able to play in this prestigious match.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick have completed the naturalization process, so they can defend the Indonesian national team on FIFA Matchday in June 2023.
They were so enthusiastic that the two players chose to stay in Jakarta until they received a call from coach Shin Tae-yong.
Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick will attend the Indonesian National Team’s training camp ahead of the 2023 FIFA Matchday match. The training session is planned to be held in Jakarta on June 5 2023, in preparation for facing Palestine and the Argentine National Team.
“I can’t wait to strengthen the Indonesian national team. I know the enthusiasm of the supporters is extraordinary here. The Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium is also magnificent and the grass is beautiful. This will be an enjoyable match against Argentina,” said Ivar Jenner.
Meanwhile, Rafael Struick said the match against Argentina was a rare opportunity for the Indonesian national team. Moreover, currently La Albiceleste is the number one team in the world because they won the 2022 World Cup.
“The match has been eagerly awaited. Moreover, this is against Argentina, champions of the World Cup in Qatar and number one in the world,” said Rafael.
The Indonesian national team will host Argentina on June 19 2023 at SUGBK. Previously, Shin Tae-yong’s troops would face Palestine at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya (14/6/2023).
Argentine media, El Destape, confirmed that Lionel Messi is ready to defend the Agentina national team in the FIFA Matchday match against Australia and the Indonesian national team.
Lionel Messi has expressed his intention to coach Lionel Scaloni and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) to take part in two FIFA Matchday 2023 matches.
“Lionel Messi made a decision with the Argentine national team ahead of the friendly match against Australia and Indonesia on the next FIFA Matchday match.”
“The captain of the world champions in Qatar 2022 has informed the AFA and coach Lionel Scaloni about what he will do in the June 2023 match,” wrote El Edstape.
The certainty expressed by Lionel Messi is certainly good news for fans. The magnetism of the Argentine National Team with Messi’s presence is certainly greater than without the presence of the player nicknamed La Pulga.
Together with Lionel Messi, the Argentine national team is predicted to come in full strength. Only Lisandro Martinez is confirmed to be absent due to an injury.
The squad nicknamed La Albiceleste will play matches against Australia and the Indonesian National Team as preparation for the 2026 World Cup Qualification.
These matches will be held in mid-September-November 2023. So, the Argentine National Team will certainly use its best strength and game to prepare for this agenda.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, gave encouragement to the Indonesian National Team which will challenge the Argentine National Team on FIFA Matchday. Erick asked the players not to tremble when dueling with Lionel Messi et al.
According to Erick, the players must maximize this match. The arrival of the Argentine National Team is said to want to help the development of football in the country.
“Don’t be afraid if Messi is there. In fact, they are here to support Indonesian football,” said Erick Thohir.
The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, has determined the names of strikers who will be the main weapons in dismantling the Palestinian and Argentinian defense lines on FIFA Matchday for the June 2023 period.
These players often operate in the attack line of the Indonesian National Team. The roles are also quite diverse. There are those who serve as sole attackers, wing attackers, and even play the false-nine function.
Several players called Shin Tae-yong were able to show impressive records with their clubs. When called up to the national team, they can also make a significant contribution.
However, there are also names of players who are actually not that special at club or national team level, but are still called upon to strengthen the Red and White squad on the FIFA Matchday agenda.
What is clear is that they will be the focus of the Indonesian national team when facing Palestine and Argentina in the near future. Below presents its review.
After being absent for quite a long time due to injury, Dimas Drajad was finally able to return to playing with the Indonesian National Team. The 1973 Persikabo striker was absent when the Garuda squad competed in the 2022 AFF Cup.
His comeback moment was created when Shin Tae-yong’s team challenged Burundi on FIFA Matchday for the period March 2023. At that time, he had not played much because he only appeared once.
This 26 year old striker is expected to be the goal machine for the Garuda squad when facing Palestine and Argentina. So far, he has scored three goals in seven international appearances.
For some time now, the Indonesian National Team’s attack line sector has been the position entrusted to Bhayangkara FC striker, Dendy Sulistyawan. This trust was also successfully paid off.
Because, this 26 year old player was able to score a total of four goals for the Indonesian national team from 10 appearances. The most special records certainly occurred in the two matches against Burundi.
At that time, Dendy always appeared as a starter. In the first match, he contributed one goal when Indonesia won 3-1. As for the second match, he recorded one assist when both teams played equally strong with the score 1-1.
Of all the names of attackers who could be an option for Shin Tae-yong on the front lines, Rafael Struick is the youngest player. Because the winger from ADO Den Haag is only 20 years old.
With the club that competes in the second caste of the Dutch League, Rafael Struick also still has minimal opportunities to play. Last season, he only appeared twice for a total of 11 minutes.
Apart from that, the player who has just received his status as an Indonesian citizen is indeed worth looking forward to his work with the Indonesian national team against Palestine and Argentina in the FIFA Matchday match for the period June 2023.
The Indonesian national team faced Palestine on FIFA Matchday at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, East Java on Wednesday (14/6/2023). The match will start at 19.30 WIB.
This match is quite historic for Rafaek Struick. The young striker Ado Den Hag will make his debut with the Indonesian national team.
Rafael Struick was installed in the striker position along with Dimas Drajad. In this match, Shin Tae-yong used a 4-4-2 formation.
For the goalkeeper position, Shin Tae-yong still believes in the figure of Syahrul Trisna Fadillah. Since the beginning of 2023, Syahrul has played the role of main goalkeeper for the Red-White Team.
Jordi Amat had to start the match from the substitute bench. The Johor Darul Ta’zim player’s physical condition does not seem to have fully recovered.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Palestinian National Team used a 4-2-3-1 formation. Former Persib Bandung midfielder, Mohammed Rashid started this match.
Rashid occupies the position of defensive midfielder. The 27 year old player will have a direct duel with his former teammate at Persib, Marc Klok.
In the front line position, Mahmoud Wadi will be a mainstay. He will be supported by two fast wings Tamer Seyam and Iyad Ghaleb.
Indonesian National Team (4-4-2): Syahrul Trisna (Goalkeeper), Asnawi Mangkualam, Elkan Baggott, Rizky Ridho, Pratama Arhan (Back), Marselino Ferdinan, Marc Klok, Ricky Kambuaya, Yakob Sayuri (Center), Dimas Drajad, Rafael Struick (Front).
Coach: Shin Tae-yong
Palestine National Team (4-2-3-1): Rami Hamada (Goalkeeper), Mohammed Saleh, Mousa Farawi, Samer Jondi, Yaser Hamed (Back), Atta Jaber, Mohammed Rashid, Mahmoud Abouwarda, Mohammed Iyad Ghaleb, Tamer Seyam (Center ), Mahmoud Wadi (Front).
Coach: Makrab Daboub
The Indonesian national team drew with a score of 0-0 when they met Palestine in the FIFA Matchday trial match at the GBT Stadium, Surabaya, Wednesday (14/06/2023).
Rafael Struick’s name was in the spotlight of netizens in this match. The reason is that this 20 year old naturalized striker made a quite promising debut.
Paired with Dimas Drajad, Rafael Struick showed his class as a striker. Not only does he dare to duel with his opponent, this ADO Den Haag player is also good at opening up space.
Unfortunately Rafael Struick’s track record ended in the first round. At the start of the second half, he was replaced by Dendy Sulistyawan.
Summarizes netizens’ praise for Rafael Struick’s performance. Let’s scroll down to find out.
The Indonesian national team faced the Palestinian national team in the FIFA Matchday match, Wednesday (14/6/2023) evening WIB. The match which took place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya ended in a goalless draw.
The Indonesian national team actually has many opportunities in this match. More than 10 shots were successfully fired by Shin Tae-yong’s team. However, in this match the Garuda Squad was unable to score any goals.
This result is quite unfortunate. Moreover, at the meeting that took place in 2011, the Indonesian National Team was able to achieve a landslide victory 4-1.
There are two debutant players in this match. The two players in question are Rafael Struick and Ivar Jenner. A review of these two players.
Rafael Struick started this match. Shin Tae-yong paired the Ado Den Haag striker with Dimas Drajad on the front line of the Indonesian National Team.
Struick appeared quite convincing in this match. There was one golden opportunity that he was able to create in the first half. Several times he was also able to combine with Marselino Ferdinand.
However, unfortunately Rafael Struick was pulled out at the start of the second half. He was replaced by Dendy Sulistyawan.
The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, played three of the seven naturalized players when they tried out with the Palestinian national team on FIFA Matchday June 2023.
The Indonesian national team drew 0-0 against Palestine at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, on Wednesday (14/6/2023) evening WIB.
The three naturalized players that Shin Tae-yong played in the Indonesian national team were Marc Klok, Rafael Struick and Ivar Jenner.
Klok played as a starter and was irreplaceable. Meanwhile, Struick was in action from the early minutes but was replaced by Dendy Sulistyawan at halftime.
Meanwhile, Jenner only entered in the second half to change places with Ricky Kambuaya in the 71st minute.
Four naturalized Indonesian national team players just sat on the bench. The four are Shayne Pattynama, Stefano Lilipaly, Jordi Amat, and Sandy Walsh.
Of the three naturalized players on the field, Struick’s performance is the most promising. The 20 year old striker played aggressively in the first 45 minutes.
Placed on the left side, Struick often takes the ball into the middle. Apart from that, this player from ADO Den Haag in the second caste of the Dutch League also has a sticky first touch which makes collaboration with other players easier.
Meanwhile, Marc Klok was able to maintain the balance of the Indonesian National Team’s midfield. The midfielder from Persib Bandung dared to fight. Klok has also been the executor of set pieces several times.
Only 19 minutes standing on the field, Jenner’s abilities are still not very visible. The player from Jong Utrecht in the second division of the Dutch League only got the ball a few times.
However, Jenner’s towering height of 186 cm is enough to help him duel with Palestinian midfielders who are also large, especially Mohammed Rashid.
The naturalized players will have another opportunity to defend the Indonesian National Team when they face the Argentine National Team at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, on June 19 2023.
Of course, Struick’s good performance will be an asset to meet Rodrigo De Paul and friends.
Rafael Struick is now strengthening the second caste club in the Dutch League, ADO Den Haag. The player who was born on March 27 2003 started his football career at the Forum Sport academy. Then decided to move to another football academy called RKAVV Leischendam in 2020.
After that, Rafael joined the ADO Den Haag youth academy. There, he showed significant development by performing at various age group levels. Starting from U-18, U-21, to the senior team.
The 20 year old striker signed a contract with the ADO Den Haag senior team in June 2022. This season, Rafael Struick played twice for ADO Den Haag in the Keuken Kampioen Division.
Quoted from the Transfermarkt page, Rafael Struick has made 42 appearances since joining ADO Den Haag in 2020. In total he recorded eight goals plus six assists.
Struick is a multiposition type player. He can be played as a left or right wing midfielder. That is the advantage of Rafael Struick.
Long before he received an Indonesian passport, in November 2022, the player whose full name was Rafael William Struick had the opportunity to appear with the Indonesian U-20 national team.
He played against Slovakia U-20 in a friendly match under Shin Tae-yong. In that match, Struick managed to score a goal. Unfortunately, Garuda Muda had to admit their opponent’s superiority after giving up with a narrow score of 1-2.
Rafael Struick was born in Leidschendam, Netherlands. His father is Brian Struick, while his mother is Soraya Noraly Soedito. Both of Rafael Struick’s parents are Dutch citizens. However, Rafael’s father has Indonesian ancestry.
The father’s grandmother has Semarang blood. Rafael Struick’s grandmother, Eleonora Fredrika Rientsma Struick, was born in Semarang, Central Java on April 24 1942.
This is what makes Rafael Struick have Indonesian blood. While his mother has Surinamese-Javanese blood.

PSSI’s call-up to Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick to the Indonesian U-23 National Team for the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup in Thailand is likely to be one-sided. What’s the reason?
The duo of naturalized players who had careers in the Netherlands were included in the list of 26 Indonesian U-23 National Team players for the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup which was announced by PSSI via its Twitter account on Monday (7/8/2023).
However, on the same day, PSSI suddenly deleted the upload.
Iva Jenner will soon start the new season of the 2023/2024 Eerste Division or the second caste of the Dutch League which will start this weekend even though she spent a lot of time with FC Utrecht in pre-season.
Meanwhile, Rafael Struick will also play in the Eerste Division this season after joining the ADO Den Haag squad.
PSSI Technical Director, Indra Sjafri, revealed that his party had sent letters summoning Ivar Jenner to FC Utrecht and Rafael Struick to ADO Den Haag. So, what are the results?
“There hasn’t been a reply to the letter, if I’m not mistaken. I’ll try to check later. I was in Bali for almost a week yesterday accompanying Frank Wormuth,” said Indra Sjafri.

Rafael Struick came down in injury time or the 90+2 minute to swap positions with Malik Sellouki when ADO Den Haag matched De Graafschap 0-0 at the De Vijverberg Stadium on Friday (11/8/2023).
Most Popular Rafael Struick
The interesting moment of this arrival was the hysterical welcome that resounded when the naturalized players appeared. The first figure to pass was the defender of Indonesian-British descent, Elkan Baggott.
This 20 year old player showed his friendliness when greeted by fans. He smiled a big smile while waving his hand in response to the greeting.
The player who was most welcomed hysterically was Rafael Struick. The female fans’ screams reached a high pitch when the player from ADO Den Haag stepped foot.
However, Rafael did not respond to the fans’ screams. He tried to keep his steps steady while keeping his gaze forward.
Third Training Session
This is the third training session undertaken by the Garuda Muda squad towards the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification. Previously, they held their first training since Monday (4/9/2023).
Coach Shin Tae-yong has also been accompanying his team since a day ago. Previously, he was absent because he had to accompany the Indonesian National Team training in Surabaya.
The Indonesian U-23 National Team striker, Rafael Struick, praised Ramadhan Sananta, who was his attacking partner in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.
In the first match, Shin Tae-yong paired Rafael Struick and Ramadhan Sananta together to play together to fill the attack line for the U-23 Indonesian National Team when they beat Chinese Taipei U-23.
The duet between these two players is truly extraordinary. They both scored one goal to help Garuda Muda win by nine goals without reply.
Sananta scored his goal in the seventh minute, while Rafael scored in the 20th minute of the match.
In contrast to Rafael, who was fully trusted to play in this match, Sananta actually had to end the match faster. At the start of the second half, the Persis Solo striker was replaced by Hokky Caraka.
Rafael Struick admitted that Ramadhan Sananta is a striker who has quality. According to him, this can be seen from the number of opportunities obtained in the match against Chinese Taipei U-23.
At that time, Sananta quite often had shooting space in the penalty box. This, according to Rafael, proves that his duet partner has a good ability to look for opportunities.
“Yes, yesterday Sananta scored a goal. That’s very good. “He got a lot of opportunities which means that he is very good when he is in the penalty box,” said Rafael when met after training at the Sriwedari Stadium, Solo, Monday (11/9/2023).
Opportunities to Play Abroad
This player of Indonesian-Dutch descent also gave advice to Ramadhan Sananta to dare to pursue a career abroad. According to Rafael, his duet partner could get lots of opportunities if he was willing to start a career abroad.
“I actually don’t know much about this news. However, in my opinion, if Sananta gets the opportunity someday, he should take it,” said the player from ADO Den Haag.
“Because, if you can get the opportunity to have a career abroad, this will be a great opportunity to develop your career,” he added.
Indonesian U-23 National Team striker, Rafael Struick, gave a warning regarding the importance of the match against Turkmenkistan in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification, Tuesday (12/9/2023). Struick wants the team not to underestimate the strength of the opponent.
The match, which will be held at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, will determine the progress of the Indonesian U-23 and Turkmenistan national teams to the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Both of them are fighting for a ticket to qualify directly for the tournament which will be held in Qatar.
If you lose, the opportunity to go to the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup is still open via the best runner-up route. There are four tickets available which will be competed for by eight runner-up occupants from all groups.
“This is a very important match. We cannot underestimate them,” said Rafael Struick.
The Indonesian U-23 national team is currently at the top of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification Group K standings with three points. Shin Tae-yong’s troops are ahead on goal difference from Turkmenistan who are in second place.
The U-23 national team is aiming for a draw to qualify directly. Rafael Struick hopes that all players who are entrusted to play will give 100 percent of their abilities.
“We have to be serious and give 100 percent and hope we win,” stressed the ADO Den Haag player.
A player of Indonesian-Dutch descent, Rafael Struick, is warming the bench as ADO Den Haag slowly approaches the top of the 2023/2024 Eerste Division standings.
In the match in Week 8 of the second caste competition in the Dutch League, Rafael did not get the chance to play when ADO Den Haag successfully overthrew MVV Maastricht’s resistance.
In the duel which took place at the De Geusselt Stadium, Saturday (30/9/2023) early morning WIB, ADO Den Haag managed to take three points after successfully winning three goals without reply over the home team.
The three goals scored by Darije Kalezic’s team were contributed by Jort van der Sande (3′), Henri Koudossou (9′), and Daryl van Mieghem (41′). Thanks to this victory, ADO Den Haag gained a strategic position.
Rafael Struick et al. shot to second place in the 2023/2024 Eerste Division standings with a collection of 15 points from eight matches. ADO Den Haag is now four points behind Roda JC who are at the top with 19 points.
In this match, coach Darije Kalezic actually brought Rafael Struick to visit MVV Maastricht headquarters. Unfortunately, Rafael did not experience playing minutes until the match ended.
The reason is, the former PSM Makassar coach only used three player substitutions. The three substitutions were made when playing Mohamed Hamdaoui (61′), Justin Che (88′), and Calvin Gustina (90+2′).
In fact, in the previous match, the 20 year old player had the opportunity to play minutes, even though it was relatively short. He made an eight-minute appearance when ADO Den Haag was held by Telstar with a score of 1-1.
Throughout this season, Rafael Struick has been more of a bench warmer for ADO Den Haag, especially if you look at his work in the Eerste Division.
Rafael will only get three opportunities to play in the 2023/2024 season. That moment occurred in the matches against De Graafschap, Roda JC and SC Telstar.
Especially for the match against Roda JC, the collector of two caps with the Indonesian National Team got the chance to play for quite a long time. He appeared from the start of the second half when he replaced Joel Ideho.
Unfortunately, on this occasion, the player who was born on March 27 2003 couldn’t do much. The visitors were already three goals ahead in the first half. Until the match ended, Roda JC maintained the score 3-0.
Chance of Promotion to the Highest Caste
With its current position, ADO Den Haag certainly has the opportunity to win promotion tickets to the highest caste of the Dutch League, aka the Eredivisie, next season. Nevertheless, there is still a long way to go.
Last season alone, ADO Den Haag could only end the competition in the middle of the table. They are ranked 12th in the 2022/2023 Eerste Division standings with a collection of 51 points from 38 matches.
PSSI reported that the Indonesian National Team coach, Shin Tae-yong, is still bringing Rafael Struick and Edo Febriansyah for the second leg of the first round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone.
The Indonesian national team will challenge the hosts, the Brunei Darussalam National Team, at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Bandar Seri Begawan, on 17 October 2023.
The Indonesian national team arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan on Friday (13/10/2023). Shin Tae-yong brought in 25 players, but left Marselino Ferdinan in Jakarta because he was still injured.
PSSI revealed that Rafael Struick and Edo Febriansyah were still injured, even though they were minor. Both of them are also said to have the opportunity to play for the Indonesian national team.
Rafael Struick and Edo Febriansyah were not included in the Indonesian national team squad when they slaughtered Brunei Darussalam 6-0 in the first meeting at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, on October 12 2023.
“Rafael Struick and Edo Febriansyah were still brought in because their injuries were lighter and could very well be played in the second leg,” wrote PSSI on its website.
If they succeed in eliminating Brunei Darussalam, the Indonesian National Team will qualify for the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asia Zone and enter Group F with the Iraqi National Team, Vietnam National Team and Philippine National Team.

The Indonesian national team is part of a tough group at the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar on January 12-February 10 2024. However, the team nicknamed the Garuda Squad refused to fly the white flag.
The Indonesian national team is in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup. The Garuda squad will face the Japanese National Team, Iraqi National Team and Vietnam National Team.
Indonesian National Team striker, Rafael Struick, is confident that the Garuda Squad can compete with strong countries in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup and qualify for the round of 16.
To advance to the knockout rounds, the Indonesian National Team must be group winners, group runners-up, or the best of the four third places.
In preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup, the Indonesian National Team is holding a training camp in Turkey from 20 December 2023 to 6 January 2024.
“I’m very excited. I’m ready to play. I’m excited to play for the Indonesian national team,” added Rafael Struick, quoted from the PSSI website.
“I am ready for the 2023 Asian Cup. For this reason, I have prepared myself in the past few weeks so that I can give my best for the team, to become a strong team,” explained Rafael Struick.
Since being naturalized with Ivar Jenner in May 2023, Rafael Struick has become the backbone of the Indonesian national team on the front lines. The 20 year old striker has always been a starter in the last two matches.
“Our opponents are strong. However, we are also the Indonesian National Team which is strong and good, so I think we have a chance,” explained Rafael Struick.
“If we work hard, we will take this opportunity. Hopefully we can qualify for the knockout rounds first,” said Rafael Struick.
The Indonesian national team worked very hard in their first match in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup, Monday (15/1/2024) evening. Unfortunately, that hard work was not enough to beat the Iraqi National Team.
The Iraqi national team was able to win 3-1 over the Indonesian national team in the match which was held at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Qatar.
Shin Tae-yong installed Rafael Struick as the main striker in this match. There were high hopes on Struick’s shoulders.
However, keep in mind this player is still 19 years old. Rafael Struick still needs to mature physically and mentally to be able to perform better in high-pressure competitions like the 2023 Asian Cup.
Shin Tae-yong needs to think about playing another striker when facing Vietnam. Ramadhan Sananta or Dimas Drajad could be options.
Since becoming a naturalized Indonesian citizen (WNI) in May 2024 and debuting a month later, Rafael Struick has been irreplaceable on the front lines of the Indonesian National Team.
Struick has played nine times for the Indonesian National Team since his first appearance against the Palestinian National Team, but has never scored a single goal.
Struick is often not used in his best position as a left wing striker in the Indonesian National Team. He was instead played as a sole striker.
In the 2023 Qatar Asian Cup, Struick always competes as a starter for the Indonesian national team. The 20 year old young man only recorded one assist and received two yellow cards.
Struick opened his voice about his goal score which is still slow in the Indonesian National Team. The player from ADO Den Haag in the second caste of the Dutch League gave an explanation.
In fact, it’s not just Struick, but the Indonesian national team is having difficulty breaking into the opponent’s goal. In the last five matches, the team nicknamed the Garuda Squad could only score three goals.
“I know it’s difficult, we are a very young team, a very new team, there are even some new players, so we have to get used to each other,” said Struick.
“Starting in practice we have to get used to each other, so I think if we keep playing and thinking well, we can score goals,” explained Struick.
Even though he is still infertile, Struick is still trusted by the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong. He was called to face the Vietnam National Team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The Indonesian national team will face Vietnam’s resistance in the third match of Group F in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, on Thursday (21/3/2024) evening WIB.
Five days later, the team nicknamed the Garuda Squad will challenge hosts Vietnam at the My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi.
Rafael Struick’s Original Position
Struick admitted that he was more suited to playing as a left wing striker. However, he has no problem being placed in any position in the Indonesian national team, even as the number nine striker.
“Yes, I can play left wing, striker, right wing. I don’t think too much about it,” said the naturalized player born in Leidschendam, Netherlands.
“However, I prefer playing on the left wing, but I can play wherever the coach puts me, I will give 100 percent,” he explained.
The Hague – Rafael Struick will not be a free transfer at the end of this season. The 21 year old striker’s contract was extended by Dutch club, ADO Den Haag.
ADO Den Haag activated the renewal clause of the agreement with Rafael Struick for a year until 2025 before his term expires in June 2024.
“Rafael Struick signed his first two-year contract in 2022 with the option of a further year at ADO Den Haag,” wrote ADO Den Haag in a narrative on its website.
Rafael Struick signed a two-year collaboration with ADO Den Haag in 2022, but since then, the Indonesian U-23 national team player has rarely had playing minutes in the first team.

This season, Rafael Struick competed four times for ADO Den Haag with zero goals and zero assists. However, he was able to score five goals in six matches for the U-21 team.
Rafael Struick was naturalized as an Indonesian citizen (WNI) in May 2023. His lineage comes from his grandmother who was born in Semarang, Central Java.
Together with the U-23 Indonesian National Team
Since his debut with the senior national team in June 2023, Rafael Struick has played ten times with zero goals, two assists, plus four yellow cards.
Currently, Rafael Struick is undergoing a training camp with the Indonesian U-23 National Team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on April 1-10 2024 in preparation for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
Rafael Struick will play with the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the U-23 Asian Cup which will be held on 15 April-3 May 2024. The team nicknamed Garuda Muda is in Group A with the Qatar U-23 National Team, the Australian U-23 National Team and the National Team. Jordan U-23.
The overseas players who were called by Shin Tae-yong to strengthen the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup play a key role behind the good performance of the Garuda Muda squad.
At least, Shin Tae-yong called a total of six overseas players for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Some of them are the backbone of the Indonesian U-23 National Team because they are always used as starters.
The experience of these players is very important to help the Garuda Muda squad, including when they beat Australia in the second Group A match with a score of 1-0 at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Thursday (18/4/2024) evening WIB.
Of course, their role is still very much needed ahead of the match against Jordan. Moreover, this match will determine the fate of the U-23 Indonesian National Team in the final standings. Below presents its review.
Until now, Rafael Struick is still struggling to break through the opponent’s goal. He has had difficulty scoring goals since strengthening the Indonesian national team in the last various championships.
This problem is still being experienced by the player from ADO Den Haag in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Playing the full two Group A matches, Rafael has so far not been able to get his name on the scoreboard.
Rafael’s flexibility in filling space in the attack line is indeed an advantage in itself. This 21 year old player is expected to end his goal drought at the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
Rafael Struick is often admired because he earns the most
The player who is currently working in the second caste of the Italian League with Venezia also often teases Rafael Struick. Because the striker from ADO Den Haag received the largest number of prizes compared to other Indonesian national team players.
“There are also those who provide good pictures. Very happy to get all of that. “But, I have to say that all this is nothing compared to the gift Rafael got,” he said.
“Every time Rafael leaves the hotel, he immediately gets up to 20 gift bags from fans. So, very happy to see that. “We also often tease him about the many gifts,” he added.

However, twice the Garuda Muda Team had to accept the score was equalized because of Komang Teguh’s own goal in the 45th minute and Jeong San-bin’s goal in the 84th minute. The score of 2-2 forced the match to continue with 2×15 minutes of extra time and a penalty shootout.
Through a long penalty shootout, the Indonesian U-23 National Team finally succeeded in eliminating South Korea’s resistance with a score of 11-10. The Garuda Muda team also advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in front of thousands of Indonesian supporters who were present directly at the stadium.
Struick emphasized that team unity and support from supporters were the main factors that helped the Garuda Muda Team achieve victory.
“The reason is that we play as a team, we are one, and look at all these supporters,” stressed Rafael Struick while looking towards the stadium stands.
“I think there are 5,000 to 10,000 Indonesian fans here, and we continued to fight for more than 120 minutes to win the match,” he stressed.
The strength of the Indonesian U-23 National Team’s front line was slightly eroded when they faced the Uzbekistan U-23 National Team in the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar. Because Rafael Struick will be absent.
Struick had to serve a suspension after receiving two yellow cards in the U-23 Asian Cup group stage against the Jordan U-23 National Team and in the quarter-finals against the South Korean U-23 National Team.
Struick will only be a spectator when the Indonesian U-23 National Team challenges Uzbekistan U-23 at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, on Monday (28/4/2024) evening WIB.
In fact, Struick was on fire. This 21 year old player managed to score two goals when the Indonesian U-23 National Team eliminated South Korea U-23 11-10 (2-2) via penalties on April 25 2024.
The Indonesian U-23 national team still has two strikers to replace Struick in a 3-4-2-1 formation. The two are Ramadhan Sananta and Hokky Caraka. However, both of them had minimal flying time in the U-23 Asian Cup.
Sananta has played twice for the U-23 Indonesian National Team in this biennial tournament, but the bomber from Persis Solo has only been on the field for 33 minutes.
Sananta was absent from two consecutive matches of the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the group stage of the U-23 Asian Cup because he was given a red card on the first matchday against the Qatar U-23 National Team.

Rafael Struick regrets his actions with the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the quarter-finals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar. He felt he shouldn’t have done that.
Struick’s violation of the South Korean U-23 national team striker, Eom Ji-sung, had to be paid dearly. He was forced to miss playing for the Indonesian U-23 national team in the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar.
Struick has already pocketed two yellow cards during the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup after the first one he received when the Indonesian U-23 National Team won 4-1 over the Jordan U-23 National Team in the group stage.
“I think, honestly, it’s kind of stupid. But it happened. Now, we have to move on,” Struick said.
The problem is, Struick is being very aggressive in the U-23 Asian Cup. The young man from ADO Den Haag in the Dutch League scored two goals for the Indonesian U-23 national team against South Korea U-23.
Struick could only support the Indonesian U-23 National Team from the stands when they challenged the Uzbekistan U-23 National Team in the last four of the U-23 Asian Cup at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, on Monday (29/4/2024) evening WIB.
From the bottom of his heart, Struick hopes that the Indonesian U-23 National Team can beat Uzbekistan U-23 so that he can play in the top match of the U-23 Asian Cup.
Hope Rafael Struick
“I will support the U-23 Indonesian National Team from the stands. Hopefully we can win and then I will play in the U-23 Asian Cup final,” explained Struick.
The coach of the Indonesian U-23 National Team, Shin Tae-yong, still has two players to replace Struick on the front line. The two are Ramadhan Sananta and Hokky Caraka.
Apart from that, Witan Sulaeman can also be used as a false nine in Shin Tae-yong’s 3-4-2-1 formation. That way, it is possible that Jeam Kelly Sroyer was the one who came down from the early minutes.

The Indonesian U-23 national team was unable to play at full strength when facing Uzbekistan U-23 in the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup, Monday (28/4/2024) evening WIB. The reason is that striker Rafael Struick has to be absent.
The player with back number 11 was forced to be banned from playing because he had already received two yellow cards. Struick will only be a spectator when the Garuda Muda Team struggles to beat Uzbekistan U-23.
In fact, Rafael Struick is being fierce. The 21 year old striker successfully scored two goals against South Korea U-23 in the quarter-finals (25/4/2024). The duel ended 2-2 after 120 minutes, and the U-23 Indonesian National Team won on penalties.
Under these conditions, which player will the Indonesian U-23 National Team coach, Shin Tae-yong, use to replace Rafael Struick?
The Indonesian U-23 national team doesn’t need to worry about finding a replacement for Struick in the 3-4-2-1 formation. There is a local striker duo, Ramadhan Sananta and Hokky Caraka, who played minimal minutes during the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
Sananta is recorded as having played twice for the U-23 Indonesian National Team in this tournament. However, Persis Solo’s striker has only been on the field for 33 minutes.
He was absent from two consecutive matches for the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the group stage of the U-23 Asian Cup because he was given a red card in the first match against the Qatar U-23 National Team.
Meanwhile, Hokky has played even fewer minutes. The 19 year old spearhead was only played once for 19 minutes by Shin Tae-yong.
The front line of the U-23 Indonesian National Team was slightly reduced to face the Uzbekistan U-23 National Team. Because, the team nicknamed Garuda Muda will definitely be without Rafael Struick.
The Indonesian U-23 national team will challenge Uzbekistan U-23 in the semifinals of the U-23 Asian Cup at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, on Monday (29/4/2024) evening WIB.
Doha – Rafael Struick’s absence had a significant impact on the breakthrough power of the U-23 Indonesian National Team during the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup semifinal duel against Uzbekistan Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Monday (29/4/2023) evening WIB. Shin Tae-yong’s counterattack strategy did not go smoothly.
The Indonesian U-23 national team failed to qualify for the semifinals and was beaten 0-2. Uzbekistan scored the winning goal, Khusayin Norchaev in the 68th minute and Pratama Arhan’s own goal (86′).
Ramadhan Sananta is plotted as a striker in a 3-4-3 playing system. The bomber from the Persis Solo club seemed like a dead card against the toughness of Uzbekistan’s back line.
Ramadhan Sananta’s movement was easily shut down by the thick wall of the opposing team, Abdukodir Khusanov and Alibek Davronov. Throughout the match he had minimal golden opportunities.
Shin Tae-yong is aware that there are problems on the front lines of the U-23 Indonesian National Team. In the last 8 round Rafael Struick scored two goals for the Red-White Team against South Korea. One of them is through a deadly counter-attack scheme, through charming individual skills.
He then withdrew Ramadhan midway through the second half and was replaced by Jeam Kelly Sroyer.
According to Erwan Hendarwanto, Rafael Struick’s absence leaves a hole in the front line of the Garuda Muda squad. The ADO Den Haag striker did not play because he had accumulated yellow cards.
“Indeed, we have to admit that losing Rafael Struick up front was very influential, Ramadhan Sananta appeared persistent but was unable to provide a solution when the balls fed from the midfield and back line were often lost easily,” he explained.
“Coupled with the goal from Ferrari which was ultimately disallowed by VAR, our players’ confidence collapsed, so it was a tough game with high emotions that emerged and ended with Rizky Ridho’s red card,” said Erwan.
Rafael Struick can make a comeback. The 21 year old striker can play again for the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup after being released from suspension.
Struick was forced to be absent due to card accumulation when the Indonesian U-23 National Team lost 0-2 to the Uzbekistan U-23 National Team in the semifinals of the U-23 Asian Cup on Monday (29/4/2024).
The naturalized player born in Leidschendam, Netherlands, is likely to start for the Indonesian U-23 National Team against the Iraq U-23 National Team in the match for third place at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, on Thursday (2/5/2024).
“He has played very well since the start of the U-23 Asian Cup and he performed well in the group stage,” said the Indonesian U-23 National Team coach, Shin Tae-yong, about Struick.
Together with Marselino Ferdinan and Komang Teguh, Struick is the most fertile player for the U-23 Indonesian National Team in the U-23 Asian Cup. The three of them both scored two goals.
Struick’s two goals came against the South Korean U-23 National Team in the quarter-finals of the U-23 Asian Cup and led the Indonesian U-23 National Team to advance to the semifinals.
“Obviously, Struick is our key player as a striker. When he got accumulated, that was not his intention, but unfortunately he got a one-match ban,” said Shin Tae-yong.
“Now, he can play and his fitness level is better. So I think he will contribute to us against Iraq U-23,” explained the architect from South Korea.
Rafael Struick, the spearhead who has been Shin Tae-yong’s mainstay since the start of the tournament.
His striker position is difficult for other players to replace. Only suspension due to accumulated cards made him absent, such as when facing Uzbekistan in the semifinals.
The results were very visible in the absence of Struick in yesterday’s match. Despite playing Rmmadhan Sananta, Garuda Muda’s front line lacked creativity.
There wasn’t even a proper shot towards Uzbekistan’s goal throughout the match. Rafael Struick will be the focus on the front lines to dismantle Iraq’s defense. The 21 year old player has scored 2 goals in this tournament, all of which were scored against South Korea.
The ADO Den Haag player is equipped with a high goal scoring instinct, supported by the quality of his right foot kick. He scored the goal against South Korea in the quarter-finals beautifully, his shot from outside the penalty box curved beautifully into the top corner of the opponent’s goal.
